I shall stop blogging about love and stuff and I think I should be more mature and talk about more pressing problems regarding the society in my blog. So, I came across this link on Facebook. It's about an article written by this Sec 4 girl from NCHS regarding the education system in Singapore. Hell Yeah! I agree with her. And seeing from the way she writes, and her opinion, I can see that she's an Arts Student. Yes, we want our creative juices to flow!

Here are some of the excerpts of the article and my views on her article.

The problem here lies with the teachers in Singapore.

Yes, I know we have the First Class education and stuff but if we only know

how to memorise and regurgitate, we're no different from Robots.

I still remember this incident that happened like 2 months ago during GP class;

"I attended a Cambridge workshop and being the typical Singaporean teacher, I asked them, what's the formula to write an AQ."

We have formulas for GP?!!? What happened to free writing and flowing creative juices? This is freaking GP!!

This other incident happened when I was in Sec 4 when I was studying for Chemistry Os.

"Remember to memorise the paragraph that I've given you word for word"

Hello!! If I wanted to be a robot, I'll work in a factory. You don't expect us to memorise word for word and vomit everything out during exam.

And for course it's not the most effective way. How many people out there can still remember what they have studied for Chemistry after their O levels? I bet many will forget cause they only memorise and vomit out. If given questions on application, Singaporeans will fail terribly.
